Manufacturing Process of Intumescent Fire Door Strips

  1. Raw Material Preparation: Gather materials including different kinds of fireproof intumescent materials, self adhesive, additives… ensure material expand to meet quality standards of fire doors requirement.
  2. Mixing: Mix the raw materials according to the formula and prepare them under specific temperature and humidity conditions. This may involve blending the expanding materials with other additives to achieve the desired physical and chemical properties.
  3. Extrusion or Calendering: Use an extrusion machine or pressing machine or inserting machine to shape the mixed intumescent materials, forming the initial shape of the intermittent strips.
  4. Cutting and Shaping: Cut the intermission strips to the specific dimensions and shapes. Precise molding may be achieved using molds or cutting tools.
  5. Quality Testing: Perform quality tests, including dimension checks, expansion performance, fire resistance, etc.for intumescent gasket.
  6. Packaging and Dispatch:Package the qualified intumescent strips and prepare them for dispatch to the market.

Fire Door Strips are specialized seals installed on fire doors to prevent the passage of smoke, flames, and toxic gases during a fire, enhancing the door’s ability to compartmentalize and contain the spread of fire.

Over-painting of fire door strips should not compromise performance in a fire situation – however, do not suggest paint over fire door strips as this will certainly compromise the sealing containment performance and use life. If the intumescent strips on fire doors has already been painted over, you will need to replace it. Our seals are available in a range of colours, plus woodgrain and metallic finishes, so over-painting should not be necessary.

In the event of a serious fire, fire doors are one of the most important components in ensuring safe exit, containing the fire and saving lives. But they can be rendered useless by not using the correct components including intumescent strip. Gaps around the four sides of a fire door leaf are essential, it is the only way the door can open and close. But these gaps create a point of weakness, where fire can take hold and destroy the door, and toxic and smoke can pass through. RESSA intumescent strip works by sealing around the edges and gaps of a fire door and door frames in the event of a fire.
