Introduction
Transparent fireproof intumescent coating is a specialized water-based paint designed to provide fire protection for surfaces of combustible materials in buildings, equipment and fire doors.
Functionality
Its primary function is to create a sealed insulating intumescent protection layer during a fire outbreak, preventing direct contact of flames and high temperatures with the underlying materials. This slows down the spread of fire and isolates heat and oxygen, reduces smoke temperature and protects the combustible materials and minimizes fire-related damages.
Chemical Reaction
Transparent fireproof expanding coatings typically consist of A and B components.
Applications
Commonly used on surfaces such as wood, fiberboard, cardboard, walls, and ceilings for fireproofing, it can be applied both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor use, an additional layer of Ressaseal® specialty waterproof varnish can be applied over the fireproof expanding coating for extra protection.
